Early experience
Liu Xiang was born in 1983 and lives in Minhang District. He has shown excellent athletic talent since he was a child. Primary schools began to contact track and field, and middle schools joined the Shanghai track and field team. In this team, he began to receive professional training and gradually became an excellent hurdler.
Sports career
On 200 1, Liu Xiang won the men's 1 10 hurdles in the national junior track and field championship, and officially started his sports career. Subsequently, he won the Asian Athletics Championships twice in 2002 and 2003. In the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, the men's 1 10 hurdles gold medal set a world record.
In 2006, Liu Xiang won the gold medal in men's 1 10 meter hurdles again at the World Championships in Doha. However, at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, he retired due to injury and missed defending his title. In 20 12, he participated in the London Olympic Games again, but he was unable to participate in the preliminaries due to injury and announced his retirement.
Life after retirement
After retiring, Liu Xiang began to devote himself to public welfare undertakings. He founded the Liu Xiang Sports Foundation, aiming at promoting sports and cultivating the sportsmanship of young people. He also participated in many public welfare activities, including supporting sports games for the disabled and supporting education in poor areas.
