The Committee is not a government department, but a mass work organization. The China Committee for the Care of the Next Generation is a mass work organization approved by the CPC Central Committee, with retired veteran comrades who are enthusiastic about the work of the next generation as the main body and leaders of relevant party and government departments and mass organizations participating, with the aim of caring, educating and cultivating the healthy growth of young people. It is the bridge and link between the party and the government to connect with the youth. The China Committee for the Care of the Next Generation is located in the the State Council Municipal Bureau of Organs Affairs. In addition to China's Committee for the Care of the Next Generation, all provinces, cities, districts and counties in China have committees for the Care of the Next Generation. Generally, the directors of local committees are mostly retired mayors, chairmen of people's congresses, county heads and others. China's work committees and local work committees are in close contact and cooperate with each other by communicating information, summing up typical cases, exchanging experiences and commending advanced ones, so as to jointly promote the development of the cause of caring for the next generation throughout the country.
