Pneumatic Stone: The plain Dongshan pneumatic stone is located on the stone cliff at the east gate of the ancient city of Dongshan. It has always been a natural wonder that people on the island are most proud of and regarded as a treasure, and it is one of the favorite attractions for tourists. Dongshan pneumatic stone ranks first among more than 60 kinds of pneumatic stones in China because of its strangeness, danger and suspension, and is praised as the first strange stone in the world by ancient scholars. Now it has become the landmark landscape of Dongshan Island. It is often said that it is a pity to go to southern Fujian instead of Dongshan; It's a pity that we can't get to Fengshi in Dongshan. That's true.
This pneumatic boulder stands on a steep cliff, 4.37 meters high, 44.47 meters wide, 4.46 meters long and weighs about 200 tons. It has a round top, shaped like a peach tree, standing on a rock, which is on the ground and inclined to the sea. The contact surface between the two stones is only 10 square centimeters. The wind blew and the boulder shook gently. If a person lies on his back on a rock with his feet hard, the boulder will shake, but it will not fall down. People standing under the pneumatic stone have a thrilling feeling, sighing as a wonder of the world, hence the name pneumatic stone, and the poem says: the wind blows the stone and moves ten thousand horses. Huang Daozhou, Chen and three loyal ministers of Tongshan were inscribed by Lu Zhenfei, the prefect of Ming Dynasty, in the autumn of Wuzi (1648). On the right side of Panshi, there are four characters inscribed by Xiashan layman in Ming Dynasty, and on the left side, there is a stone tablet inscribed for Cheng Chaojing, the magistrate of Mingshui.
There is also a beautiful legend about wind-driven stones. During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, pirates invaded Dongshan Island in an attempt to snatch this strange pneumatic stone. They used several warships, put ropes on them and pulled with all their strength. However, the enemy only heard a few loud noises and all the ropes were broken. The enemy fell into the sea one after another, which was very embarrassing, but the wind-driven stone still stood. Celebrities in past dynasties have sung a lot about pneumatic stones. For example, Wen Sanjun's poem in Ming Dynasty said: Stone is a beautiful space, not a stone shaken by the wind. The cloud root leads directly to the pagoda, and the moon pavilion is as small as a ladder. Therefore, when tourists see this stone, they are always amazed. When they know its beauty, they will take pictures as soon as possible. The windbreak stone is in harmony with the surrounding scenery. No wonder the literati will stay here: the unique scenery here is amazing. The scenic spot of pneumatic stone at sunrise is the most charming.
