1984 was admitted to Tongji university as a postgraduate majoring in structural engineering, 1987 graduated with a master's degree, and 1990 received a doctorate in engineering. He has been a lecturer and associate professor of Shanghai Institute of Urban Construction, and was promoted to professor 1996. Currently, he is the Dean of Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tongji University, a structural engineering researcher, a doctoral supervisor, a national first-class registered structural engineer, and a senior registered structural engineer in the UK.
