Zhang Chong's personal introduction:
Zhang Chong (1904— 194 1), a native of Guantou Village, Beibaixiang Town, Yueqing City, Zhejiang Province, was originally named Zhang Shen. He was alert when he was a teenager. At the age of five, I can recite some chapters of the Book of Songs, and I can write long essays in primary school.
During his stay in Northeast China, Zhang Chong secretly carried out anti-Zhang activities, and served as a member of the Harbin Party Department of the Kuomintang, a youth minister and a special correspondent. 1927 was arrested and imprisoned in March. Fortunately, Lei Yin, the president of Harbin University of Political Science and Law, his alma mater, sheltered him from death. Zhang Chong returned to Nanking on 1929. Because of his outstanding talent and familiarity with Russian and Soviet affairs, Chen and Chen Lifu attached great importance to him. In the early 1930s, Zhang Chong was promoted to the position of chief of the investigation section of the Organization Department of the Kuomintang Central Committee (the predecessor of China's reunification), in charge of intelligence affairs. During his stay in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, he spent five years with Zhou Enlai as a representative of the Kuomintang. He made outstanding contributions to promoting the anti-Japanese national United front and the unity of the Kuomintang and the Communist Party in the Anti-Japanese War, and to the Chinese nation's final victory over the Japanese aggressors.
1935 was elected as an executive member of the Central Committee at the Fourth National Congress of the Kuomintang. From the second half of 1935, he was ordered to participate in secret negotiations with representatives of the Chinese Communist Party, during which he went to Wayaobao in northern Shaanxi to meet with Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai, which played an important role in promoting the second cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. 1936 12 went to Xi' an with Chiang Kai-shek, and the Xi incident broke out on 12 and was detained. The following year, War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression broke out and served as the director secretary of the Sixth Military Commission. In the winter of the same year, he visited the Soviet Union and served as deputy head of the industrial delegation. Later, he was transferred to Lieutenant General as the director of the Advisory Office of the General Office of the Military Commission.
