The flight deck not only bears the strong impact and high friction caused by the take-off and landing of carrier aircraft weighing 20 to 30 tons, but also bears the flame burning of jet aircraft up to several thousand degrees.

According to CCTV program, only a few countries in the world can produce deck steel that is really used for aircraft carrier construction because of its extremely high performance requirements. China Angang Group is one of the enterprises with this ability. Angang Group has a steel base completed and put into operation in 2008, and has the most advanced steel production and processing equipment in China. Known as the "king of rolling mills in the world", the five-meter-five ultra-wide rolling mill is also assembled here. The widest rolling mill in the world has the highest rolling capacity. The rolling force is up to 654.38 million tons, and the steel plate with a width of 5.5 meters can be rolled, and the rolling length can reach more than 40 meters. Zhao Gang, deputy director of the Military Products Research Institute of the Iron and Steel Research Institute of Angang Group and head of the first domestic aircraft carrier deck steel research and development in China, said that this base is the only aircraft carrier deck steel production base in China, and "the current level has reached the world leading level". The 200-ton steel for aircraft carrier produced by Angang for the maintenance of "Liaoning Ship" was delivered in May 2009.
