Yongping, located in the west of Dali Prefecture and on the east bank of Lancang River, is the "west gate" of Dali Prefecture. Bonan Town, the county resident, is 89 kilometers east of Dali City and 76 kilometers west of Baoshan City.
Yongping has been the traffic throat of Yunnan hinterland to Baoshan, Nujiang, Dehong and other places since ancient times, and the transportation hub to South Asian countries such as Myanmar and India. In modern times, National Highway 320, Hangrui Expressway and Darrouy Railway under construction passed through the territory.
The historical evolution of Yongping
As early as 3,700-4,000 years ago in the Neolithic Age, ancestors flourished in Yongping, leaving a "Guangxin Site". Yongping belongs to the country of prisoners in BC. In the 12th year of Emperor Yongping of the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 69), the county was named Bonan and transferred to Yongchang County, named after Bonan Mountain, a famous mountain in China.
Yonghe Middle School in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (AD 345-355) was renamed Yongping to commemorate the history of Emperor yong ping in the Eastern Han Dynasty. In the 10th year of Tang Zhenyuan (AD 794), it was renamed Sheng Xiang County, which belonged to Nanzhao and Yongchang Festival.
During the Dali Kingdom in the Song Dynasty, it was still called Sheng Xiang County, which was under the jurisdiction of Yongchang Prefecture. In AD 1257, the county was changed to Yongping Qianhu. In A.D. 1274, due to the peace between man and land, it was transferred to Yongchang and renamed Yongping, which has been in use ever since, meaning "Yong 'an".
1949+ In February, Yongping was transferred from Baoshan to Dali. 1958 10, Yunlong and Yongping counties merged and became Yongping. In March, 196 1, Yongping and Yunlong counties were restored.
