Attachment: Appreciation of Mao Zedong's Poem "Seven Laws and Winter Clouds"
Lv Qi Dong Yun
December 26th, 1962
Snow flies under the pressure of winter clouds,
A hundred flowers blossom once in a while.
Upside down, the cold current is urgent.
The earth is slightly warmer.
Unique heroes drive tigers and leopards,
No hero is afraid of bears.
Plum blossoms are full of snow,
It's not surprising that flies freeze to death.

This is a political poem, but there is no didactic element. It expresses its feelings by depicting natural scenery, reflects the grim situation in the international communist movement, expresses the position of the people of China and China who adhere to principles and dare to struggle, and sincerely praises their heroism and confidence in fighting cold and snow like plum blossoms.
This poem is full of romanticism, which shows the author's brave character and his great demeanor of staying calm and calm in times of crisis. It is his masterpiece in his later years.
The first couplet "Snow Overwhelms Winter Clouds, Flowers bloom and fall for a while" highlights the extremely heavy environmental characteristics of dark clouds and heavy snow, forming a depressing atmosphere of "Dark clouds crush the city to destroy", and at the same time showing the inevitability of objective reality with causality. The cold is pressing, and the flowers and plants can't stand the blow for a while and have withered. There is a word "pressure" here, which means that heavy snow is coming; A word "flying" describes the state of snowflakes flying all over the sky. A "thank you" is the inevitable result of the "pressure" and "opening" of the factory. These two sentences show the chilling atmosphere brought by the severe winter and heavy snow, symbolizing the severe international situation at that time. At the same time, it shows that this is only a temporary phenomenon.
The two dual sentences are comparison. "The sky is high and the cold current is urgent, and the earth is slightly warm." The above sentence is not only a true description of Yan Dong's snowy climate characteristics, but also a metaphor of the international political situation, reflecting the bad image of the Soviet Union * * * putting itself above the international communist movement, dominating the country and implementing high-handed means. The next sentence continues to skillfully use the characteristics of nature, which constitutes a very neat confrontation with the previous sentence, and it is different from Du Fu's "Winter solstice gives birth to spring again" and Shelley's "If winter comes, can spring be far behind?" Poetry, write the heroic spirit of China people who are not afraid of violence and have the courage to struggle. The word "blow" describes the inevitable law that the revolutionary forces gradually develop and eventually replace the cold current.
Neck couplet "unique heroes drive tigers and leopards, no heroes are afraid of bears." The hero and heroine face the tiger, leopard and bear, and their will cannot be changed. The more difficult it is, the more they can show their skills. As the saying goes, "when the sea changes, the true colors of heroes are revealed." "Tiger and leopard" and "bear" refer to imperialism and revisionism respectively. At the same time, they are grouped together, which not only describes their ferocity, but also points out their weak counter-revolutionary and anti-people nature.
Tail couplet "It is not surprising that plum blossoms are fragrant in the snow and flies freeze to death." By comparing "plum blossom" and "fly", this paper describes their different performances and different fates in the same harsh environment. Plum blossom symbolizes nobility and strength, and it is a portrayal of China people's indomitable spirit. It is proud of frost and snow, and its integrity will not change. It is not afraid of the cold. "There are hundreds of feet of ice on the cliff and beautiful flowers." At the same time, the blooming of plum blossoms is in sharp contrast with "a hundred flowers blossom at one time", which praises the real Marxism–Leninism political party that dares to struggle and win. Those dirty, ugly and buzzing flies will only die in the "flying snow". The image of "flying" is both appropriate and popular, full of humor, and has entered the realm of poetic metaphor.
There are two groups of images in the poem, one is warmth, hero, hero and plum blossom representing progress; On the other side are hostile snow, white catkins, cold current, butch, bear and fly. The author has always advocated "expressing ambition with poetry", especially in his later years, which often reflects his views on life, society and politics as a philosopher in his natural scenery. He deeply understands the importance of thinking in images, so unless he chants history, he rarely discusses it directly in his poems. He always creates all kinds of images to achieve the mutual integration of emotion, scenery and reason.
Throughout this poem, the metaphor is appropriate, the image is vivid, the contrast is strong and the style is high. This poem was written on the author's birthday and has its own meaning. In the early 1960s, a major feature of Mao Zedong's poetry was the combination of history, reality and rational thinking. This is probably because he has read more history and thought too much about reality during this period, and often turns them into poems.
