Hotan, located at the southernmost tip of Xinjiang, was called Khotan in ancient times, which means "land of jade production" in Tibetan. It is an important town on the south road of the Silk Road. Known as the "Jade Capital". In the late Qing Dynasty, it was changed to "Hotan", and "Hotan" was changed to "Hotan" on 1959 (probably because of simplified characters), and 1983 was established.
