Influenced by his grandfather Deng Bishan (one of the Eight Friends of Zhushan) and other predecessors, Deng Xiaoyu became interested in ceramic art from an early age. /kloc-entered Jiangxi Porcelain Company at the age of 0/3, during which he studied under famous artists such as Cheng Yiting and Liu Yucen, and benefited a lot.

In the late 1940s, he began to make a living by painting porcelain alone and became famous in one fell swoop. He is known as the "little master". 1950 worked in Jianguo porcelain factory, 1958 transferred to the art research office of art porcelain factory. He has been engaged in ceramic art creation for more than 60 years, with endless fine crystals and far-reaching stage names, and enjoys a high reputation in the ceramic art world. Deng Xiaoyu is good at pastel flowers, birds, fish and algae, and also makes paper paintings. He admired the painting styles of Gao Qifeng and Zhang Shuqi, imitated the brushwork and techniques of Cheng Yiting, a famous flower-and-bird porcelain painter in Jingdezhen, and won the exquisiteness of Lingnan painting school. His flower-and-bird paintings are mostly based on common things in life, especially eagles, white cranes and domestic chickens. He makes good use of China's traditional allegorical techniques, making the picture have infinite artistic conception, his works are lively and the composition is novel and unique. His paintings have both form and spirit, both work and writing, and his pen is changeable and unique.
