In his masterpiece "Plant Fossils of Yuemengou Group in North China", he put forward the concepts of early, middle and late stages of Cathaysian flora and three regions of north and south. It promoted the all-round development of paleobotany in China and went to the world. He has taught paleobotany in Nanjing University and other schools, brought many graduate students and trained a large number of talents for the country.

Geological paleontology
Li Xingxue has been engaged in the study of geology and paleontology for a long time, and is the main academic leader of paleobotany and Paleozoic continental stratigraphy in China. At all stages, he always summarizes the overall situation of discipline development, reviews history and looks forward to the future. At the end of 1947, he participated in the "Revival Conference of Chinese Palaeontological Society" and wrote a paper "Progress of Paleobotany in China", which was published in Journal of Chinese Palaeontological SocietyNo. 1 (published in 1948). 1959 "anniversary" coincides with the founding of new China 10 anniversary, and scientists from various professional fields participated in the compilation of the series "Ten Years of China Science". Si Xingjian and Li Xingxue co-authored the paleobotany part of Paleontology Volume. 1979 coincides with the 30th anniversary of the founding of New China. On the anniversary, Li Xingxue, Lu, Zhou Mingzhen and Hao Yichun published the article "Brilliant Achievements of Paleontology in China" in the Yearbook of Nature Magazine published by Shanghai Science and Technology Press. He also co-authored Thirty Years of Paleobotany in China (1949- 1979) with Zhou Zhiyan, Song and Ouyang Shu, and published it in the selected papers of the 12th annual meeting of the Chinese Paleontological Society. 1989 Li xingxue, Zhou zhiyan, song, Ouyang Shu and Cao ruiji co-authored the article "new progress of paleobotany research in China in the past ten years", which was published in the second issue of the journal of paleontology, vol. 28.
Li Xingxue attended 1990 "International Symposium on the History of Geological Science and the 7th Annual Meeting of Geological Society of China Geological History Research Association" held in Beijing. At the meeting, he gave a report on "A Brief History of Paleobotany and General Situation of Paleobotany in China", the original text was in English, which was published in the Proceedings of this conference 1992. 1996, academicians Cheng, Ye Lianjun, Liu Dongsheng and Chen Mengxiong of China Academy of Sciences initiated activities to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the former Geological Survey. Then, the Historical Review of the Original Geological Survey (19 16- 1950) edited by Cheng and Chen Mengxiong-Historical Review and Comment. 1999, the book Fifty Years of Geological Sciences in China, edited by Wang Hongzhen, an academician of China Academy of Sciences, was published on the anniversary, which coincided with the 50th anniversary of the founding of New China. Paleobotany of China was co-authored by Li Xingxue and Wang Jun.
Other works
Li Xingxue also wrote many works about the history and commemoration of scientific and technological figures. From 65438 to 0944, three young geologists, Xu Deyou, Chen Kang and Ma Yisi, were killed by bandits on their way to Guizhou. Li Xingxue edited Biography of Mr. Chen Kang and published it in Geological Review, Volume 9,No. 1-2, in order to cherish the memory of this lost friend and inspire others. 1964, Mr. Si Xingjian died of illness. Li Xingxue published "Mourning Mr. Si Xingjian" in the Science Bulletin of the year 1 1, which fully expressed his admiration and nostalgia for this old teacher. 198 1 year, in the book "A gentleman can only move forward-recalling paleontologist Yang" published by Shaanxi People's Publishing House, there is an article "Recalling Teacher Yang's Two or Three Things" written by Li Xingxue. Li Xingxue also co-authored with Zhu the article Geological Paleontologist Zhu Sen, which was published in Biography of Modern Geologists in China (Volume I) edited by Huang and He Shaoxun.
