During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, he served as a clerk, student, squadron leader of security team, instructor of cadre school of Shandong Branch of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, instructor of Shandong Column Camp of the Eighth Route Army, and deputy director and director of political department. Participated in the battles of Sunzu, Daigu and Linyi in Yishui and the anti-"mopping-up" in Luzhong. 1943 During the Battle of Daigu, the company was awarded the title of Daigu Company.
During the War of Liberation, he served as deputy political commissar, head of the regiment and political commissar, and participated in the battles of Sanbao Benxi, Bao Si Linjiang, Jinzhou, Hunan Hengbao and Hainan Island liberation.
After the founding of New China, he served as the division chief of staff, deputy division commander, division deputy political commissar, political commissar, military deputy political commissar and director of political department, military political commissar, director of political department of Kunming Military Region, first deputy commander of brigade garrison area, and director of political department of railway corps. He participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea and made contributions to the revolutionization, modernization and regularization of the army.
Zhan Ming is a representative of the 11th National Congress and the 4th National People's Congress of China. 1955 awarded the rank of colonel, 1960 promoted the rank of senior colonel. He was awarded the Third Class Medal of Independence and Freedom, the Second Class Medal of Liberation and the China People's Liberation Army Medal of Independence and Honor.
On May 7th, 2009, Comrade Zhan Ming passed away in Beijing at the age of 9 1.
