The predecessor of Hunan Normal University is Hunan Normal University. 1953, Hunan Normal University was established. 1957 Changsha Normal University merged into Hunan Normal University. 196 1 year, Hunan Art College and Hunan Institute of Physical Education merged into Hunan Normal University. 1962, the Chinese Department and Political Economy Department of Hunan University were merged into Hunan Normal University. 1963, the biology department of Hunan University was merged into Hunan Normal University. 1984, the school was renamed Hunan Normal University. In 2000, Hunan Institute of Education was merged into Hunan Normal University.
