"The sky is high and the clouds are light at night, and the world is in harmony with spring." Cai Xiang (10 12- 1067), whose real name is Mo Jun, was born in Chihu Jiaoxi, Cixiaoli, Xianyou County (now Qingze Pavilion in Fengting Town). Famous calligrapher, politician, tea scientist in the Northern Song Dynasty, cousin of Quan Cai Xiangjing.
In the eighth year of Renzong Tiansheng (1030), he was a scholar, and successively served as a collator, a remonstrator, a museum of history, an imperial edict, a bachelor in Longtuge, a bachelor in Privy Council, a bachelor in Hanlin, a third secretary and a bachelor in Duanmingtang. He also served as a traffic envoy in Fujian Road, and learned about Quanzhou, Fuzhou, Kaifeng and Hangzhou. He died as a gift to the assistant minister of the Ministry of Rites, and pursued loyalty in the Southern Song Dynasty (1165-1173).
When Cai Xiang was the magistrate of Quanzhou, he presided over the construction of Luoyang Bridge in Quanzhou, which is the oldest existing cross-sea beam bridge in China, connecting Jinjiang County and Hui' an County, and connecting the north and south of the east coast of Fujian; When he was appointed as Fujian Road transshipment ambassador, he advocated planting 700-mile postal pine from Fuzhou to Zhangzhou. Cai Xiang carefully studied the varieties and processing of litchi, and the book Litchi Spectrum was praised as "the first book on fruit tree taxonomy in the world". In Jianzhou, he presided over the production of Wuyi tea boutique "Xiaolong Group", which was the most precious tribute tea in the Song Dynasty.
His prose and poetry also have achievements, including The Complete Works of Cai Zhonghui Gong. Cai Xiang is honest and upright, faithful and trustworthy, knowledgeable and profound in calligraphy. In the history of calligraphy, when it comes to calligraphy in Song Dynasty, he is called the four great calligraphers together with Su, Huang, Mi and Cai. Cai Xiang's calligraphy has its own system with its rich and dignified, simple and graceful beauty.
