Fighting Huang Chao, Zeke made his family background unknown, and there was no biography of Old Tang Book and New Tang Book. In about 880, he served as the special envoy of our Taining Army. At that time, Tang Xizong ordered some eastern buffer regions to station troops, and ordered Zeke to station troops in Ruzhou to stop the Huang Chao peasant uprising army from marching to the northwest.

In the autumn of 880, Huang Chao defeated Cao Quan, commander-in-chief of Tian Pingjun at that time, with an absolute advantage of150,000 to 6,000. Snow can be killed by qi zhou mutiny in our time. Qi Kerang worried about being ambushed by Zhou, gave up his defense and returned to Yanzhou, the capital of Taining Army. Other buffer regions also withdrew their troops from the water, paving the way for Huang Chao to March into Luoyang, the eastern capital, and Chang 'an, the imperial capital.

Zeke ordered the army to be reorganized and returned to Luoyang, but seeing that Huang Chao's army was growing, he decided to retreat to Tongguan to stop Huang Chao from marching into Chang 'an. At that time, he still had more than 10 thousand troops, but there was no supply. Zhang led thousands of people to help Qi Kerang, but Zhang objected, pointing out that neither he nor Qi Kerang's army had supplies. Luozong still sent him, claiming that the supply could keep up, but in the end the two armies still didn't get supplies.

1 year1October 4th, Zhang and Huang Chao's troops arrived in Tongguan. Zeke Jean and Chao Huang fought for most of the morning and repelled him at first. But around noon, the Zeke Department collapsed due to hunger, and the soldiers fled to the valley called "Forbidden Pit", trampling on and destroying the fortifications there, making Tongguan completely open to the Huang Chao Army. Qi Kerang escaped, but Fan insisted on keeping the pass but couldn't keep it, which made Huang Chao capture Chang 'an and forced him to flee to Chengdu.

In 885, Tang Jun expelled Taining and defeated Huang Chao. After returning to Chang 'an, the eunuch Tian in power had a dispute with our ambassador Wang Chongrong in the river. Tian wants to transfer Wang Chongrong to Taining, Qi Kerang to Yiwu, and Yiwu Army to our ambassador to Jiang, Wang Chucun. At this point, Qi Kerang is still called the special envoy of our Taining Army, which shows that he should return to Taining after his defeat. The king of Chu saved the above table and defended Wang Chongrong. Wang Chongrong assembled military forces and his ally, Li Keyong, to defeat Tian and his allies, Zhu Mei and Li Changfu. There is no evidence to prove that Qi Kerang participated in this conflict, and there is no historical record that he refused to go to Yiwu or planned to work.

In 886 AD, Zhu Jin, the cousin of Tian Pingjun, became a general under his command and begged Qi Kerang's daughter to be his wife. Qi Kerang agreed, but he didn't know that this was Zhu Jin's plot to seize Taining. Zhu Jin entered Yanzhou from Yunzhou with a carriage with hidden armor. On the day of preparing to marry the bride, he launched a surprise attack and expelled Qi Kerang from Yanzhou. Zhu Jin took control of Taining and was appointed as the special envoy of our Taining Army. This is the last record of Ji Kerang in the history books, and his whereabouts are unknown.
