Longxing temple is located in Yuwangdian Village, Huangtaigang Town, Wancheng District, Nanyang City, which is 16.8km away from the urban area. It is named after the legend that the black dragon was born here. This temple has a long history and is famous far and near. Longxing temple was founded in the Kaiyuan period of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty. According to records, the temple is very majestic, with pines, cypresses, pavilions and inscriptions. The main hall is a five-story palace-style building, including the mountain gate, the Heavenly King Hall, the Ursa Major Hall, the Pilu Hall and the Back Hall. Symmetrical on both sides, there are Guanyin Hall, Dizang Hall, Gallery, Zhaitang, Moon Gate and so on. Every building is located in an orderly way, with blue tiles, imitation of Yao steps, clouds in Gao Yu, giant catalpa trees and brilliant chalk. The Buddha statue is tall and solemn, with extraordinary vision, and the whole building is magnificent and elegant, which is amazing. It belongs to the famous ancient temple in the Central Plains and embodies the characteristics of the birthplace of China's Zen epiphany. At the peak, there were more than 200 monks and nuns living in the temple, supporting more than 500 acres of land. With the changes of history, the temple was severely damaged after Cang Sang War, especially during the war of aggression against China. Buddhism gradually declined, monks and nuns were displaced, and temple culture was not prosperous. Only the traditional temple fair on February 2 every year continues to this day.
