Li Peiwen 1925 was admitted to Guangdong University, and 1927 studied in the United States. He studied at Purdue University and Hua University in the United States, then transferred to Cornell University to specialize in fruit tree science, and studied citrus cultivation at the University of California. 1932 returned to China with a master's degree.

Li Peiwen's main achievements in teaching and scientific research are as follows: the establishment of a citrus breeding laboratory, the establishment of a Chaoshan citrus experimental field, and the research and selection of excellent disease-free mother trees for controlling citrus Huanglongbing; Establish a mechanized farm in Dongguan as a demonstration farm of agricultural mechanization in Guangdong Province; In this paper, the storage of citrus fruits was studied, and the topic of "fruit storage and preservation" was presided over. The measures to solve the water swelling disease and inhibit the brown spot disease of sweet oranges were put forward by refrigeration at suitable temperature. He presided over the national key research project "Study on Storage and Transportation of Litchi" (1983) "Changes of Endogenous Hormones during Flower Bud Differentiation of Litchi". Participate in the proposal to establish an agricultural research institute (now the Academy of Agricultural Sciences).
