Is the failure of Taiping Heavenly Kingdom really the result of Hong's self-mutilation? Does Li Xiucheng have a basis?
Li Xiucheng was born in a poor peasant family. When he was young, he lived with his parents and had a hard life. After jintian uprising joined the Taiping Army, he fought bravely and was soon promoted from an ordinary soldier to a young general.

After the Tianjing Rebellion, He, Chen Yucheng, Li Shixian and others helped the poor, and achieved military victories, such as breaking the camp in the north of the Yangtze River, breaking the camp in the south of the Yangtze River, and establishing Sufu and Tianzhe provinces, thus reviving the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. Hong Xiuquan, Wang Li and Li Xiuwei were loyal to the monarch, calling him "forever loyal to the monarch".

1June, 864, the Xiang army captured Tianjing. After Li Xiucheng was captured, he wrote tens of thousands of words in prison, describing his own experience and the history of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. On August 7, Zeng Guofan was executed by Qing Law at the age of 42. In his self-report, Li Xiucheng said frankly that the failure of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom was actually Hong's self-mutilation.

Why do you say that? Because the late Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, especially after the Tianjing Incident, the whole court was in a mess.

With the gradual increase of power, Yang became more and more bossy and showed little respect for the kings. Once he made a mistake and even flogged the king. Wei Changhui was flogged by Yang. In view of his fear of Yang's rights, Wei Changhui dared not speak out against Yang and obeyed Yang on the surface, but he was very dissatisfied and even resentful inside.

It is said that Yang's brother and Wei Changhui's brother had a conflict over the property. Yang wanted to kill Wei Changhui's brother, so he gave it to Wei Changhui, who dismembered his brother. I think even if he is forced to do what Yang wants to do, how can Wei Changhui not hate it?

Yang's desire for power is growing. In August of A.D. 1856, Yang invited Hong Xiuquan, the heavenly king, to his East Palace on the pretext that "the heavenly father descended to earth for his own possession". Yang said to Hong Xiuquan in a tone of heavenly father: "Wang Li of East China has made great contributions, why is he only nine years old ..." And he asked Hong Xiuquan to claim long live. The power struggle between Hong Xiuquan and Yang can be said to have reached a fever pitch. On the surface, Hong Xiuquan said:

So, Wei Changhui came to Tianjin in the early morning of September 2, surrounded Yang's mansion, and clamored to order the killing of Yang. Yang was caught off guard and killed, while Wei Changhui killed everyone in yangfu. He also killed Yang Bu and his cronies in Tianjin, and the blood became a river.

Li Xiucheng once summed up the reasons for his failure in his own account and said: "The wrong country does not need talents, and the wrong master does not trust the foreign minister." What this self-report reveals is one of the chaos after the accident. Hong Xiuquan was influenced by the "Tianjing incident" and worried that similar accidents would happen again, so he changed from appointing talents in the past to cronyism. How serious is this situation? 1860, Xiao Chaogui was only a child of 10 years old, and even was enfeoffed as the Queen Mother of the West.

Obviously, under the influence of the previous turmoil, "building more princes and less standing" has become the consensus of Hong Xiuquan and his relatives around him. At the beginning, this practice was only to divide and disintegrate generals with more troops. Later, due to the financial constraints of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, it gradually evolved into a chance to be crowned king as long as you donate money and food. By the time the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom perished, the number of kings had reached as many as 2,700.

This can be said to be a major strategic mistake of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. As long as the general captures an area, the money and grain in this area will be controlled by the general. Therefore, the generals can no longer work together. Even, some generals were intoxicated with the land of wealth, which made the Taiping Army lose its strategic initiative. Moreover, in order to safeguard vested interests, a large number of Taiping troops were stuck in some unimportant cities, which made the Taiping army, which was originally good at sports warfare, fall into the consumption with the Qing army.

Due to the mistakes of these reforms, all users are people with their own surname Hong. Many people have been misplaced. Therefore, the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom did not come back to life, but declined rapidly and finally went to extinction.
