In his own words, the most common expression is: boring, wasting my life, I want to see the new world.
He was surprised to hear that I had been in the first company for more than 8 years. He asked me: It's really hard to understand. What kind of experience is it to stay in a company for more than 5 years or even 10 years?
I said, your question is too general. Let me give you an example first.
I happen to have a friend, Lao Lu, who works in a medium-sized private enterprise this year.
If you ask him about his experience, he will tell you that he is bored and wants to die every day. But if you keep asking why not, he will probably say, how? The environment outside is so bad that I am not young. I give it back to married people with children. Can you tell me how to get there? It's mixed up.
Therefore, what kind of experience varies from person to person, and whether it is worthwhile to stay in a company for 5 years or even 10 years, we should look outward and inward at the same time and ask ourselves three questions.
1. What about the company itself? After graduation, I joined Ericsson, a foreign company, which used to be the boss of the communication industry (surpassed by Huawei a few years ago) and stayed for eight and a half years.
As a Fortune 500 company and a Nordic company, this company has done a very good job in welfare, corporate culture and employee career planning.
Standardized professional process management and good contract spirit also deeply affect everyone.
Undeniably, too loose humanized management has also made many people addicted to it and made no progress, but what my son wants to say is that it depends on who he compares with.
Because of the company's own aura, Ericsson people are still more popular in the market.
Yes, the company aura is not equal to the personal aura, but the fact is that as long as you have no bad record in the company, you will basically submit your resume, or there will be many applicants.
Even though Huawei's culture is completely different from Ericsson's and it has surpassed it to become the new world number one in one fell swoop, Huawei has always welcomed people from Ericsson. I decided to go to Huawei because I wanted to change the environment. Huawei also took the initiative to dig me, and the treatment was quite attractive.
Therefore, the first thing my son wants to express is: if a company itself is very good, people who have worked in it for more than five years, even if they mix, are not much worse than the whole industry.
In other words, if the company is not very good, it depends on how you get along in it.
2. Has your position changed over the years? When I first joined Ericsson, I was an assistant engineer, and later I was an engineer, senior engineer, senior engineer, project leader, project manager and department head.
The salary is also from the initial monthly salary of 4,000 to the monthly salary of 20,000 before leaving the company.
If you have been in a company for more than 5 years, there is no significant change in position or salary, which either proves that the company is not that good or proves that you are really not that good.
Especially for small and medium-sized startups, five years is too long a time granularity. If this company can continue to survive, its business and organizational structure will definitely be adjusted with great probability.
In this case, people who are willing to study hard, learn by rote and iterate repeatedly will certainly grow up well.
On the other hand, it is certainly not good to muddle along and stay in one place to eat and die.
3. Is it the experience of 5- 10 years or the experience of 10 years repeated 5- 10 times? Most grass-roots posts are repetitive jobs.
It's no problem to repeat. The problem is that many people get lost and numb in repetition, and gradually lose their interest and ability to explore and learn new knowledge.
When my friend Lao Mu just entered the company, his mind was full of hard work and his office was slippery, so he was once highly valued by the leaders. However, because of the relaxed environment, the leader is also a nice guy, who slowly slackened off and gradually became an old campaigner.
Six years later, the former leader was dismissed for offending people. Old Wu Teng asked me to introduce him to work. There are only two job skills: skilled use of offce office software and good at dealing with interpersonal relationships.
I am embarrassed. Who should I introduce someone with six years' experience like this?
To sum up, if you are lucky enough to be in an excellent environment, you are likely to be excellent; Even if you muddle along, you will get along better than the average person. This is determined by environmental potential energy.
But in most cases, when you are in a less good environment, only those who are really willing to die and are seriously responsible for their future may still stand out after a long time of 5- 10 years.
