Poor students return to their hometowns to be teachers: it is getting easier and easier for poor students to go to college.
My story

Narrator: Guo Chunfen Age: 25 Identity: Teacher of Lingshan Middle School in Qinzhou City

I am the first graduate of Guangxi Hope High School. There are 65,438+000 students in our class. Poverty and hope have brought us together. We are all chicks struggling in poverty and hardship, and almost dropped out of school because of poverty. On the verge of giving up, we see "hope" again. Now that we have spread our wings in our own sky, I hope the project can help us grow all the way and put wings on us!

In the past five years, I have changed from a poor student to a people's teacher. I always want to repay the help of Project Hope, so I can only pass on this gratitude and try my best to help those who need help.

What I feel most is that in the past five years, it has become easier for poor students to go to college, unlike before when we had to get excellent grades to get opportunities. Because the national policy is good now, we help poor students through student loans and many other ways. At the same time, when they have the opportunity to study in big cities, their knowledge is richer, they are naturally more confident and their comprehensive quality is getting higher and higher.

After the end of the senior high school entrance examination in 2002, Project Hope saved my fate of not having the opportunity to continue studying, and brought me from a small mountain village in Baise to Nanning, the capital, making me the first student in Guangxi Hope High School. In the past three years, Project Hope has helped us solve all the expenses such as tuition, room and board, and let us concentrate on school.

In high school, the school teachers took special care of us and took dozens of students home for the New Year every year. When the college entrance examination (Weibo) is approaching, the teacher simply moves the pots and pans at home to the office, where he cooks porridge and corn for us to replenish our energy at any time. I still remember that on the day of the college entrance examination, the class teacher gave each of our classmates two pieces of "Melissa" chocolates, and the teacher said, "It's not easy to get hungry after eating this!" Sure enough, we were all very energetic after dinner.

In 2005, I was admitted to Beijing Normal University, and the Hope Project gave me another chance to realize my dream. With the 7000 yuan dream-realizing fund of "Project Hope Dream-realizing Action", I went north. So when I graduated in 2009, I didn't think much. I only submitted my resume to Lingshan Middle School in Guangxi, hoping to become a glorious people's teacher and try my best to help those children who need help.

Now there are still some students in Lingshan Middle School whose family economic situation is not very good. Every time I see them, I think of myself in the past. Therefore, I teach them as much knowledge as possible to help them realize their college dreams.

We hope that nearly 80 of the 65,438,000+students in Senior Three in 2002 will return to work in Guangxi, and all walks of life, because we are United and hope to come back to build our hometown and help more people.

We are lucky to have the help of the party and the government. This luck is not only from the help of simple materials; More importantly, it brings us strong spiritual strength, gives us hope for life, gives us courage and motivation to forge ahead, and inspires us to move forward towards our goals.

Expert review

Wu Zongxun, Secretary of Guangxi Hope Party Branch

Our region is an economically underdeveloped region with a relatively large poverty area. Many children from poor families are faced with the difficulty of entering universities. In order to promote the in-depth development of Project Hope, the state is constantly exploring new ways to help poor students.

In September 2002, with the support of the Education Department and the Civil Affairs Department of the Autonomous Region, Guangxi Hope High School, the first high school named after China Hope Project, was established, and a "Star of Hope Class" was set up in high schools to help outstanding junior high school graduates from poor families successfully enter high schools and even dream universities. Their outstanding achievements have aroused great repercussions in society.

Practice has proved that holding the "Hope Star Class" is an important measure to solve the problem of excellent academic performance of junior high school graduates from poor rural families and a useful attempt to deepen the development of Project Hope.

In recent years, the Party Committee and government of the autonomous region have attached great importance to the enrollment of freshmen in poor colleges and universities, and solemnly stated that "no child will drop out of school because of family poverty". Make full use of the brand advantages of Project Hope, do everything possible to guide and mobilize the participation of all sectors of society, and solidly promote the financial assistance for students from poor families.

Reporter's notes

In recent years, poor students have been gradually replaced by words such as "excellent in character and learning" and "inspirational star". Because of their special experiences, they cherish the hard-won learning opportunities. Most of them have won "National Inspirational Scholarships" and "University Scholarships", and all of them have returned the care of caring enterprises and caring people from all walks of life with excellent results.

There are still many excellent aided students like Guo Chunfen. When they succeed in their studies, they don't forget to repay the society. Li Yishan, a teacher who is now teaching in South No.2 Middle School, also receives state funding. "What I can repay the country is to be a person who contributes to society and not waste the country's money to train me!" (Reporter Lei Intern Wang Luyuan)
