1985- 1989 studied archaeology in the Department of Archaeology of Peking University. 1989-2007 Engaged in field archaeological work in Hubei Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology. In June, 2005, he received a doctorate in prehistoric archaeology from the National Museum of Natural History. From 20 to 0, 2007, he did postdoctoral research in vertebrate paleontology Institute of Paleoanthropology, China Academy of Sciences.
