Brief introduction of the reform movement of 1898
In June, 1898, 1 1, Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty wrote a letter to Guo Shi, announced the political reform, and began to use the reformists. The Reform Movement of 1898, the first modern reform in China's history, began. The die-hards headed by Empress Dowager Cixi staged a coup, Emperor Guangxu was jailed, Tan Sitong (lower right) and other "six gentlemen of the Reform Movement" were killed, Kang Youwei (upper left) and Liang Qichao (upper right) were exiled to Japan, and the political reform failed. Although this political reform lasted only 103 days, it was considered as the first ideological emancipation movement in China's modern history. As a reform movement, patriotic national salvation movement and ideological emancipation movement, the Reform Movement of 1898 had a far-reaching impact on the awakening of the Chinese nation and the social changes in modern China.
