Jinning County is under the jurisdiction of People's Republic of China (PRC) (China), Kunming City, Yunnan Province. Jinning is located in the middle of Yunnan Province, on the south bank of Dianchi Lake, surrounded by mountains on three sides and a flat dam on one side. It is located 40 kilometers south of Kunming, belonging to the suburbs of Kunming, the planned Xicheng District and Chengnan District of Kunming.
