Male, born in March, 1963, from Yancheng, Jiangsu. Ph.D. in Nanjing Land and Lake Studies, China Academy of Sciences, and postdoctoral fellow in urban planning, School of Architecture, Southeast University. 1990 has been teaching at Nanjing normal university since she got the master's degree in human geography from Nanjing normal university. 1995- 1996 has been a visiting scholar at American union college, studying urban geography and urban economics. At present, he is the director, professor and doctoral supervisor of the geography department of Nanjing Normal University, and the secretary general of the National Human Geography Teaching and Research Association.

Professor Shan Yang mainly studies the urban and urban-rural coupling regional morphology, establishes a pseudo-normalized model by using 3S technology, extracts urban morphological information from remote sensing images, and determines the urban-rural coupling regional scope. On this basis, according to the fractal theory, the characteristics of urban form are quantitatively studied, the complexity and stability of urban form are determined, and the implementation effect of urban planning is tested and demonstrated. The research results have been published in Journal of Geography, Geographic Information Science, Journal of Remote Sensing, Human Geography and other journals, providing scientific decision-making basis for urban and rural planning, land planning and industrial layout. The research project of "Land Use" led by the National Institute of Environment of the Ministry of Environment of Japan refers to and applies this method. In recent years, Professor Shan Yang's research direction has turned to rural planning and new rural construction, combining the rational analysis of geography with the perceptual creation of planning and design, and exploring the new application direction of human geography.
