According to the records of Ming Dynasty, Li Zicheng returned to his hometown twice after the uprising. Once, in April of the ninth year of Chongzhen (1636), the Li Zicheng Rebels captured the company commander Yu of Yansui alive and held a celebration in Yan 'an after defeating the Ming army. Go north and return to Mizhi, and stay in Maanshan. Legend has it that when people in Mizhi saw Li Zicheng coming home, they all cheered, with incense burners on their heads and wine syrup in their hands, as if welcoming Julian Waghann. In order not to disturb the villagers, he ordered not to attack the city, went to the city gate in person, called the county magistrate and said to him, "This is my hometown, don't take my parents." Then he left 32 thousand silver to rebuild the Confucian temple in his hometown, set up voluntary schools and train talents.
Li Zicheng Palace is a unique palace garden tourist area in northern Shaanxi, with exquisite conception and unique shape. Its main buildings are Yue Lou, Meihua Pavilion, Lou, Yuhuang Pavilion, Temple and Beiqing Palace.
Li Zicheng Palace also has an exhibition on the revolutionary history of Mizhi women.
