Major achievements: Yan Li School was established.

Yan Yuan was a famous thinker, educator and representative of Confucianism in Qing Dynasty, and also the founder of Yan Li School. He devoted his whole life to medical practice and teaching, and advocated paying equal attention to practice, practical learning, practice and practical application. In today's words, it is all-round development of morality, intelligence and physique. Yan Yuan attached importance to training practical talents for practical use and attacked Zhu Cheng's idealistic education view.

1635, Yan Yuan was born in Yangchun, Boye County, with Wang's parents. He was renamed Zhu Jiuzuo, a small official in Lixian County, and was born in Jia Zhu as Zhu Bangliang. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, when Yan Yuan was four years old, his father fell out with Zhu Jiajian and fled to Guan Yu with the Qing army.

Yan Yuan's mother lost the news of her husband, so she remarried when Yan Yuan was twelve years old, and Yan Yuan lived with her adoptive parents from then on. Grandma died, Yan Yuan's father mourned, and Zhujiajian Island's ceremony of "crying for three days, crying for one day and one night" made him starve to death.

Yan Yuan was very clever since he was a child, and he studied with Wu Zhiming when he was eight years old. Wu Zhiming can ride, shoot, sword and halberd, and is good at fighting, medical skill and skillful craftsman. Because of this, Yan Yuan was different from others since childhood. He not only studied the classics of saints, but also dabbled in many fields.

At the age of 19, Yan Yuan took Jia Zhen as his teacher, and in his study with Jia Zhen, he laid the ideological foundation of Yan Yuan. Jia Zhen advocates taking "truth" as the criterion of life and "telling the truth and doing practical things", which coincides with Yan Yuan's later view of "truth" education.

Yan Yuan once took part in the imperial examination and was a scholar, but soon gave up his plan to take part in the imperial examination. As for the reason, it may be seen from his later vigorous attack on stereotyped writing.

When Yan Yuan was twenty years old, the Zhujiajian official company lost, so Yan Yuan started his own life of farming and raising his grandfather. Despite the hard life, Yan Yuan didn't give up studying. During this period, he has been reading all kinds of books and classics, learning medical skills, art of war, fighting skills and so on. After the age of twenty-four, Yan Yuan started teaching in private schools, and then began his own life of practicing medicine and teaching.

At the age of 34, "I studied because of the four teachings of Liu De, Liu Xing, Zhou Gong Liu Yi and Confucius;" Sit-in is because King Zhu Cheng is immersed in Zen Buddhism and folklore, not business. " Later, he made a fierce attack on Zhu Lu's theory, and changed from believing in Neo-Confucianism to being an outstanding representative of criticizing Neo-Confucianism.

Not only in thought, but also in practice. He advocated educating students with the four teachings of Liu De, Liu Xing, Liu Yi and Confucius. In all his classes, students not only study the Eight Characters Classics, but also learn manners, music, shooting, books, mathematics and agronomy.

At the age of 62, at the invitation of Gong Hao's letter, he presided over Zhang Nan Academy in Feixiang, and formulated the tenet of "being honest, pragmatic and not hypocritical". After that, he stayed at Zhang Nan College until it was flooded, and then he returned to his hometown, thinking that he should eventually die of old age.
