A kind of sculpture art is called "Shaping according to the environment", "Exercising according to the material", "Skillful with knives and axes" and "Elegant". This creative method of "harmony between man and nature" emphasizes "natural interest" and is used by bamboo carvers engaged in bamboo root carving in later generations.

The other kind is the shallow carving method of "scraping" and "sketching a few knives", such as folding fan and plum blossom pen container. Its composition and layout are completely in the traditional format of China's paintings and calligraphy, and the knife technique is simple, and the charm of China's paintings and calligraphy is expressed by knife marks and lines. This is also the creative method of "carving bamboo by painting", similar to Zhu's deep carving method.
