Article 11 The chairman, vice-chairmen and members of a villagers' committee are directly elected by the villagers. No organization or individual may designate, appoint or replace members of a villagers' committee. The term of office of the villagers' committee is five years, and a general election shall be held at the expiration of the term. Members of villagers' committees may be re-elected.
Twelfth village committee election, presided over by election of villagers committee. Election of villagers committee is composed of a director and members, elected by villagers' meetings, villagers' representative meetings or villagers' group meetings. Members of election of villagers committee who are nominated as candidates for members of villagers' committees shall withdraw from election of villagers committee. If a member of election of villagers committee withdraws from election of villagers committee or becomes vacant for other reasons, he or she shall be replaced in turn according to the original election results, or another election may be held.
