1989, Zhang Bashi was born in an educational family in Chifeng city. His birth coincided with his great-grandfather's 80th birthday, so he took the nickname "Bashi". At school, his scientific name was Zhang Chen Rui, but he preferred the name "Ba Shi", so that he later established "Zhang Shi Studio" with this name, and Zhang Ba Shi's name gradually became famous in the industry.

Zhang Bashi was clever since he was a child. From the age of seven, his father sent him to the famous oil painter Jiang Tian and the famous calligrapher Wang Fuquan to study painting and calligraphy, which laid a solid foundation for painting and calligraphy. /kloc-at the age of 0/5, he entered Guyuzhai as an apprentice and began to concentrate on polishing Bahrain's stone carving skills.

In 2008, Zhang Bashi was admitted to the Chinese Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts with a score of 16 in the national specialized course and the first place in the cultural course and specialized course in Inner Mongolia. He studied under Shi Guoliang, a disciple of Huangzhou, Bi Jianxun and Qi Baishi, a disciple of Li Keran, and then under Wang Xiaohui. The teacher's personal teaching, coupled with Zhang Bashi's talent and diligence, made his Chinese painting level improve rapidly, especially the landscape freehand brushwork and meticulous brushwork freehand brushwork. His delicate, simple and natural artistic style has accumulated profound artistic connotation for him to climb the peak of sculpture.

During his college years, Zhang Bashi always stuck to his beloved carving post, and whenever it was dead of night, he was intoxicated by the wonderful music of the collision of knives and stones. Every holiday, he packs his bags and visits famous teachers in Jiangnan. His persistent pursuit soon made his mark in this talented art school. Bo won the Central Academy of Fine Arts Award.

After graduating from college, Zhang Bashi studied stone carving, jade carving, wood carving and tooth carving under the guidance of China arts and crafts master, Ni Dongfang, a representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage project "Qingtian Stone Carving", and Liu, a China arts and crafts master, and formed his own unique artistic style and concept in inheritance and innovation.

Zhang Bashi believes that the surface of sculpture art is the art of ingenious combination of knife and stone, and the deep layer is the release of sculptor's cultural heritage and thoughts and feelings. As a sculptor, we must first learn to read stones, understand the meaning of stones, and find the point of convergence of ideas. Then, we should vent our passion on the stone, stimulate the generation on the stone, show our skills on the stone, give the stone a smart life, and achieve the artistic realm of "stone and people are one".

Bahrain stone carving "Five Poisons" won the second Flying Horse Prize of Arts and Crafts in the whole region, and Master Ni Dongfang gladly wrote an inscription "Shining on the Stone".

Personal life

The mysterious turtle was born.

On a sunny afternoon in autumn, Zhang Bashi came to the antique market in the eastern suburb of Chifeng City. At a booth, an ugly, cracked little rubble caught his attention. He thinks this is a stone that can be turned luxuriously. When asked about the price, the stall owner didn't have the nerve to say the price: "Just give it. If you pay 65,438+000 yuan for our plain printing, this stone will be given to you. " If Zhang Bashi gets the treasure, he will buy it at once.

Back in the studio, Zhang Ba couldn't wait to shave his face with a knife, polish it with sandpaper, and then coat it with paraffin. Miracle appeared, and the stone surface became "smooth as a mirror". This is a rare jet stone, but it is covered with turtle cracks. How to "cover the seam and remove the lock"? He meditated in front of his carefully bred little turtle, and the turtle pattern on the shell made his eyes shine and inspiration came instantly. He wrote a composition and carved it overnight. A few days later, a shiny black jade "Xuanzang" was born. As soon as his works appeared in the four famous stone exhibitions in China, they were immediately appreciated by many famous artists.

The first snake stone carving in China

Zhang Taiyan said: "The innovation of art comes from the accumulation of life. A successful work is not imagined by the sculptor, but the result of in-depth observation of life and integration into life. " Zhang Bashi likes all kinds of small animals. He believes that the earth is the common home of human beings and all living things. In order to vividly show the true shape of small animals to people, he fed snails, turtles, frogs, fish and even poisonous scorpions and poisonous snakes in the studio, and carefully fed and watched the fine products every day, thus gradually making a leap in sculpture aesthetics and sculpture language, and also having a deeper understanding of the true meaning of stone culture, so he gave birth to resonant works.

In the early spring of 20 15, the second "Flying Horse Award" of arts and crafts in the autonomous region began to collect works, and Zhang Bashi was determined to give it a try. He moved out a piece of Balin stone weighing 19 kg in the warehouse. The color of the stone is "very flowery", with yellow and black inclusions and messy texture. He stroked this beautiful stone and always felt that it should be a manifestation of spiritual things. He paced among the small animals, and when his eyes rested on the rattlesnake that was coiled up and looking forward to sticking out its core to show him kindness, his inspiration suddenly flashed, and a composition of a rattlesnake lurking on a rock waiting to catch food appeared in his mind.

Zhang Bashi designed the snake into a black snake, and cleverly painted yellow on the eyelids, the top of the tail and the snake core. Rattlesnakes make sounds at the tail, which is the highlight of snakes. But it's easy to break when the tail is tilted up. Zhang Bashi was bold, and with skillful skills, he jumped the snake's tail into the air, elongated the shape of the snake's core and spat it out, making the snake smart in times of crisis. He carved more than 20,000 scales on the snake's body and carved out a "rattlesnake" with a low neck and fierce eyes, waiting for an opportunity to attack its prey.

In autumn, when the Bahrain stone carving "rattlesnake" entered the second arts and crafts exhibition hall in the whole region, it immediately caused a sensation. The industry praised "this is the first snake in China stone carving", and the judges commented that this work has four characteristics: "cleverness, danger, precision and spirit".

This masterpiece, which shows Zhang Bashi's profound skills in carving, composition and painting, naturally included the "Gold Award" in his name, and was identified as a "special stamp" issued by China Post Corporation.

In order to let more ordinary people get close contact with exquisite stone carvings, Zhang Bashi began to pay attention to the local culture and "non-legacy" projects in his hometown. In his spare time, he will also carefully read Liao History, look at the dust of history through books, and try to figure out the inner feelings and facial expressions of the characters in the book. Occasionally, I will drive to the depths of the grassland, experience the life of herders, observe their national costumes and living environment, and also travel and study. Next, Zhang Bashi intends to create works related to Liao culture and Mongolians, speak with stones and tell stories with stones, and influence more people with the skills he has learned.
