Du Fu (A.D. 7 12- A.D. 770), a native of Gongxian County, Henan Province, was a great realistic poet in the Tang Dynasty and was called a "poet saint" by later generations.

Together with Li Bai, they are called "Du Li". In order to distinguish it from the other two poets, Li Shangyin and Du Mu, namely "Little Du Li", Du Fu and Li Bai are also called "Big Du Li".

A total of about 65,438+0,500 poems of Du Fu have been preserved, and their poetic skills are superb. They are highly respected in China's classical poems and have far-reaching influence.

In 759, Du Fu abandoned his official position and went to Sichuan. He lived in Chengdu from 759 to 766 and was commemorated by Du Fu's Caotang. Although he fled the war and lived a relatively stable life, he still cared about the whole life and the affairs of the country. The core of Du Fu's thought is the Confucian thought of benevolent governance, and he has the great ambition of "obeying for the gentleman and then purifying the customs".

In the winter of the fifth year of Dali (770), Du Fu died on a boat from Tanzhou to Yueyang at the age of 59.

Du Fu's poem "There are Sixty Volumes" has long been lost. In the second year of Baoyuan in the Northern Song Dynasty (1039), Wang Zhu collected 1405 volumes and compiled them into 18 volumes, which was named "Du Gongbu Collection". Qian edited The Collection of Du Gongbu.
