Yang Liandi, 19 19, was born in Beicang Town, Tianjin. His family is poor. /kloc-studied as a shoemaker at the age of 0/4, and later worked as an electrician and a scaffolder. He sold coolies to capitalists for more than ten years, and he also learned the skill of climbing mountains with one hand. /kloc-at the beginning of 0/949, after the liberation of Peiping and Tianjin, Yang Liandi bid farewell to his family and joined the Railway Corps of the Fourth Field Army of the People's Liberation Army with his scaffolder companions. 1in the spring of 949, Yang Liandi played a great role in the process of bridge repair along the railway from Shimen (now Shijiazhuang) to Beidaihe, and solved many construction problems for the company. The soldiers affectionately called him "Master".

1in the summer of 949, railway soldiers went to western Henan to undertake the task of repairing the No.8 Bridge of Longhai Railway. This bridge was the first Gao Qiao in China at that time. Its pier was 45 meters high, pointing to the blue sky above and facing a deep stream below. Bombed many times in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation. In order to ensure access to the northwest, the bridge must be repaired as soon as possible. The first task is to climb the towering pier, level it, and then re-erect the beam. Due to the lack of construction machinery, how to climb the pier has become a difficult problem. The colonel pulled his comrades under the bridge and mobilized everyone to find a way. After careful observation, Yang Liandi found that there was an iron splint every three meters on each pier. Although it is only a few inches wide, it is barely enough for one person to stand. He boldly put forward a plan: hook the round hole on the iron splint with a hook pole, and people climb up along the pole, and then tie the foot pole to the iron splint to build a single-sided ladder. With the approval of the league leaders, Yang Liandi took the lead in climbing with a long pole at the risk of falling at any time under the watchful eye of the league leaders. After several hours of fighting, he finally boarded the dock. At that time, the bridge experts who worked on the Longhai Railway for many years could not help but admire: "There are really capable people in the military!"

1September, 950, he was sent to Beijing by the army to attend the National Model Workers' Congress, and was praised by Mao Zedong and others, and attended the ceremony marking the first anniversary of the National Day in Tiananmen Square. This experience has been popularized in all units of the railway corps. 1951March, Yang Liandi was allowed to join China. 1951July, Yang Liandi was promoted to deputy platoon leader, and soon came to Qing Chuan River Bridge with the troops. It coincided with a big flood in northern Korea.
