How to Improve Teachers' Professional Happiness
Abstract: As a special profession, teachers have both the commonness of all professions and the particularity of teaching and educating people. Therefore, their professional happiness is not only related to teachers, but also plays a decisive role in students. This paper mainly discusses how to improve teachers' professional happiness from three aspects: teachers' career planning, teachers' interpersonal relationship and teachers' attitude towards themselves. Keywords: improving teachers' professional happiness. People have too many reputations for the teaching profession: "the engineer of the human soul" and "burning their own candles to illuminate others" ... But when they really enter the teaching profession, people's evaluation of the teaching profession is "if people drink water, they will know it in cold and warm". There are too many hardships and tiredness in this profession: poor wages, strict restrictions on various government decrees, and high social expectations of parents ... In fact, there are no occupations or industries with high happiness index in the world. From the perspective of positive personality theory, happiness is a subjective feeling. Different people will have different subjective well-being in the same life, and the same person may have the same subjective well-being in different lives. So how to improve teachers' professional happiness? I think it can be achieved from the following three aspects. First, do a good job in teachers' career planning to help them grow faster and better. Occupation refers to the pattern of a person's career experience in his life. Professional experience, including position, work experience and tasks, is influenced by employees' values, needs and emotions. Teachers' career is a professional experience model associated with a series of teaching and educating activities in schools. Such as teaching experience in school, rich teaching experience in teaching and research activities, the realization of educational ideals and ambitions, and the recognition and respect of students and society. With the deepening of education and teaching reform, the new talent quality standard clearly puts forward that teachers are no longer just the transmitters of knowledge, but the main body of educational resources development who undertakes the important responsibility of teaching and educating people. In order to give full play to the main body and key role of teachers in education and teaching reform and make them the leaders and developers of students' lifelong development, teachers should first become the life subject of self-design, self-restraint and self-development, so as to realize the sustained and healthy development of teachers' life subject. However, in real life, many teachers still have such misunderstandings and deviations in their actions, and even have strong complaints about teachers' long working hours, excessive pay and little return. Cheng Shangrong, a famous educator, once said that there are two key factors that affect and determine happiness: first, whether there is a goal in life; The second is whether you have developed your creativity in the process of moving towards your goal. Therefore, whether it is a new teacher or an old teacher who has worked in his post for many years, it is the basis for realizing potential development and life value to let himself take the initiative in career development. As a special profession, teachers must pursue and realize their abilities, skills and values along lofty goals through effective career planning and management on the road of career growth, so as to finally realize the surpassing and successful development of their careers and enhance teachers' professional happiness. Of course, in this process, we should pay attention to the combination of personal status and development potential, and make decisive and clear goal choices through the method of goal decomposition and goal combination to realize our career planning goals, and at the same time, we will inevitably improve our professional happiness. Second, straighten out interpersonal relationships and create a harmonious working atmosphere for yourself. At the Fourth Plenary Session of the 16th CPC Central Committee, General Secretary Hu Jintao put forward the general task of social construction in the new historical period-building a harmonious society, which sounded the horn of China construction in the new period. As a place to train people and an institution to lead social development and civilization progress, schools are an important part of society. If the school does not have a harmonious campus, there will be no harmonious society. As an important part of the school, teachers need to face complex interpersonal relationships, which are mainly manifested in four categories: the relationship between teachers, the relationship between teachers and students, the relationship between teachers and parents, and the relationship between teachers and school leaders. Improper handling of interpersonal relationships of either party will make you feel powerless, unsatisfactory everywhere, and even incompetent for the current education work, which is also one of the main reasons for unhappiness. So how can we handle such a complicated interpersonal relationship? Simply put, it means respect, understanding, justice and mutual assistance. The relationship between teachers includes the relationship between teachers in the same discipline, teachers in different disciplines, new and old teachers, advanced teachers and ordinary teachers. They have both similarities and differences in academic level, cultural accomplishment, work experience, education and teaching activities. We often hear the saying that "scholars despise each other", that is, teachers can't treat competition and cooperation with a correct attitude, so I think that to straighten out the relationship between teachers, we must understand and respect each other, treat each other sincerely, help each other, learn from each other, work together and make progress together. This is not only beneficial to the school's work, but also beneficial for individuals to get along well with their colleagues at work and improve their professional happiness. In the teacher-student relationship, to establish intimate, harmonious and democratic interpersonal relationship between teachers and students requires the joint efforts of both teaching and learning. Teachers should set an example everywhere to make their image conform to the expectations of society or students for their roles; Trust students, treat students fairly, and have good expectations for every student; We should take the initiative to strengthen communication with students, and prevent and overcome teachers' abuse of "authority" to put pressure on students at will, resulting in communication obstacles and even hostility. In this way, students will naturally understand and support the teacher's work, the relationship between teachers and students will be harmonious, and the sense of professional happiness will naturally improve. The relationship between teachers and school leaders is administrative. In correctly handling the relationship between teachers and school leaders, we should rely on administrative means and professional ethics. Teachers should respect the personality of leaders, support the work of the school, strive to do their own jobs and actively participate in the work of the whole school. The most important thing is to think of yourself as the master of the school. At the same time, leaders should also learn to respect teachers, care for and trust teachers, evaluate teachers' work fairly and reasonably, give full play to teachers' sense of ownership, and implement democratic management; We should be strict with ourselves and establish our moral authority. If both sides can handle interpersonal relationships well, the natural teachers and leaders will work closely together to form a good atmosphere. The relationship between teachers and parents is one of the important relationships that can't be ignored in the process of education, and it is a window to strengthen the connection between schools and society. Correctly handling the relationship between teachers and students' parents is of great significance to the smooth development of education and teaching and the healthy growth of students. Teachers should respect parents, actively keep in touch with parents, give full play to their various roles in school work, and develop educational resources through parents; Parents should be helped to improve the art of educating their children and learn from each other's strengths. Parents should understand, support and cooperate with the work of schools and teachers, communicate frequently, keep abreast of their children's performance in school, and educate their children in a targeted manner. Teachers and parents work closely together, teachers will be more handy in their work, and their happiness at work will naturally double. When teachers handle these interpersonal relationships well, they will love this profession more and have a sense of professional happiness. Third, love yourself and accept your imperfect self. Ms. Zhong Gulan, the chief trainer of China, a global career planner, believes that whether you love yourself or not is directly related to a person's career happiness. What is love for yourself? Have a plan, but don't blindly put pressure on yourself; Don't make unnecessary comparisons, your feelings are more important than others' opinions; Know how to choose and compromise, and never wear yourself out with perfectionism. Many people love themselves, but in fact they just love themselves in the eyes of others. Many people's unhappiness is caused by pursuing perfect personality. We have always stressed the need to improve ourselves, but improving ourselves does not mean pursuing perfection. "Self-improvement" is the direction and "pursuit of perfection" is the indicator. "Pursuing perfection" is called irrational belief in psychology, which is unreasonable. There is a saying: "Either change the reality or accept it." If we are not satisfied with our work performance, we will try to change it. If we can't change it, we will accept it happily. Cherish what we have and look at problems with a positive eye, and we will have a sense of happiness. People always make mistakes at work. It is necessary to correct mistakes, but don't blame yourself too much, because everyone makes mistakes sometimes. People cannot be perfect. We should be tolerant of others and learn to be tolerant of ourselves. Many teachers, like me, may have been blindly demanding perfection and not making mistakes, but they often feel overwhelmed in practical work. Many times, I know I have worked hard, but my education is still in vain in the face of my classmates who don't cooperate with me. Students are ungrateful, and sometimes they even play the devil's advocate. All my efforts are in vain. At that time, I often felt very tired, with a strong sense of job burnout, and the pressure of work bothered me extremely. I even felt that I was a useless person, a useless person. To this end, I work harder and keep learning, hoping that I can improve and get everyone's affirmation. But as a result, I found that no matter how hard I try and improve, I can't be a perfect person. In this state of mind, the result of my work is to make more mistakes and even despair of myself for a while. Later, on the recommendation of my friends, I read Debbie Ford's book Accepting Imperfect Self. Now I know that it is very important to admit and accept my imperfect self and have a complete life. Each of us is a contradictory unity, which is the result of various positive and negative characteristics. No matter which one is missing, it is incomplete. Finally, I learned to admit myself, accept myself and be my friend. Although this process is long and painful, my professional happiness has been greatly improved. When teachers can do the above, I believe that teachers will have a stronger sense of belonging to their profession and will love their sacred and great profession more and more.
