Because he used to be Zuo Shiyi and Yuan Wailang of the proofreading department, later people called him Du Shiyi and Du Gongbu; Also known as Du Shaoling and Du Caotang (who once lived in seclusion in Chengdu Du Caotang).
In China's classical poems, he is famous for his simple and gloomy style. Compared with Li Bai's "Poetic Immortal", Du Fu was regarded as "Poetic Sage" by later generations. His poems are also called "the history of poetry" because of their social significance.

Du Fu's family comes from Du Fu's family in Xiangyang, a branch of Du Fu's family in Jingzhao, and a descendant of Du Yu, a military strategist in the Western Jin Dynasty. The family moved from Xiangyang to Gongxian (now gongyi city). Du Fu described his illustrious predecessor, leaving a poem "Many students and teenagers are not cheap, and the five tombs are light and fat".
Du Fu claimed to be the "thirteen-leaf grandson" of Dangyang Hou Du Yu in Jin Dynasty (see the article "Ancestor Dangyang"). There are different opinions about Du Yu's later generations in handed down literature. In Yuan He Shi Bian, Liu Du called him Du Yu's "young son" Hou. Dialectics of Ancient and Modern Surnames Volume 24 Du Fu called him Du Yin Hou, Du Yu's "youngest son". Cen Zhongmian verified that Du Fu was the grandson of Tu Yu after Du Dan.
There is Confucianism in Du Fu's poems, full of caring for people and things and strong patriotic feelings, and he is known as a "poet saint". Du Shishan observed the reality of life and society rationally and carefully, and realized the sufferings and joys of the people from his own life experience. He had a strong political consciousness and inherited and carried forward the realistic spirit of The Book of Songs, folk songs of Han Yuefu and Jian 'an literature.
