On April 22nd, 2004, with the approval of Yunnan University for Nationalities and the approval of the provincial government, "China-ASEAN Language and Culture Talent Training Base" was established in the College. Comrade Qian Hengyi, Deputy Secretary General of the provincial government, unveiled it at the ceremony. On May 27th, 2009, the "Base" passed the acceptance of Yunnan Provincial Education Department, and was well evaluated by the acceptance expert group.

After more than ten years of construction, the college has made great progress in running a school. According to the orientation of "based in Yunnan, facing the whole country and radiating to Southeast Asia", the school has made a series of gratifying achievements in discipline construction, teaching staff, teaching and research, personnel training, serving the society, international cooperation and exchange, books and materials, etc.
