Electronic resume (electronic resume)

Also known as a scannable resume, it is a plain text (ASCII) or hypertext markup language (HTML) document, which is usually submitted with the employment application. It uses keywords to provide employers with information about the candidate's professional experience, education and work ability. That old-fashioned paper resume is written for people to browse quickly. Electronic resume is written for computer search.

Many employers handle all electronic resumes they receive by using the Automatic Applicant Tracking System (ATS) or subscribing to resume verification services. Resumes are scanned into images, and the text in resumes is read by optical character recognition (OCR) software. Most or all of the text is stored in a relational database. When employers decide to hire people, they can use data mining technology to search in the database established for candidates. Generally speaking, the employer will clarify the qualifications required for a position by selecting relevant keywords. Resumes that best match related keywords will be selected and printed.
