Han Song, a native of Shaanxi Province, received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Tsinghua University Radio Department (now called Electronic Engineering) 198 1988, and worked in the State Key Laboratory of Pattern Recognition of Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences for nearly three years. 199 1 went to study in the United States, and197 received a doctorate in computer science from USC in Los Angeles, California. During his Ph.D., he published 8 papers in IEEE and ACM international first-class journals, and the papers were interviewed and photographed by LA Times for their remarkable innovation, which is very rare among overseas doctoral students.
