Mr. Hu loves his motherland and hometown. He is the first Hong Kong industrialist to invest in the Mainland after China's reform and opening up. His investments in China mainly include Guangzhou China Hotel, Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway, Guangzhou-Zhuhai Expressway, Guangzhou Southeast West Ring Expressway, Shunde Road and Bridge System Project, Humen Bridge, Shajiao B Power Plant (2x350,000 kilowatts), Shajiao C Power Plant (3x660,000 kilowatts) and Shenzhen Huanggang Border Inspection Station. In August, 2004, the first large-scale real estate comprehensive project (Hehe New Town) invested by Mr. Hu in the mainland laid the foundation stone in his hometown.
