SRTP is one of the important measures of undergraduate practice teaching reform. Through the establishment of projects by teachers or students, some scientific research funds are given to provide undergraduate students with opportunities for scientific research and training.

Enable students to enter the scientific research fields of various majors as soon as possible, get in touch with the frontiers of disciplines and understand the development trend of disciplines; Enhance students' innovative consciousness and cultivate students' innovative and practical ability; Strengthen cooperation and exchange, cultivate team spirit and improve students' comprehensive quality.

SRTP projects come from: ① basic, applied and developmental research topics in different fields of teachers' teaching, scientific research, production and management, which are refined according to the actual situation of students and transformed into SRTP projects; ② Students decide their own scientific research projects and research topics.

Among Chinese universities, Chongqing University, Zhejiang University, Southeast University and China Ocean University started SRTP earlier. At present, China University of Mining and Technology, Beijing Forestry University, Southwest Jiaotong University, Yunnan University of Finance and Economics, Shandong University (Weihai), Nanjing University, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beihang University, Fuzhou University and other universities have also begun to carry out this plan.
