In addition, the Law of the Chinese Empire translated by Professor Zhu Yong (co-written by the famous American sinologist Boddy and the jurist Morris) is one of the most important works of its kind by western sinologists so far. After the book was published in 1993, it attracted great attention of Chinese legal historians.
Since Professor Zhu Yong recruited and trained doctoral students in 1997, there have been 19 doctoral students. Under the guidance of Professor Zhu Yong, some of them have become rookies in the field of modern legal history in China, and some have played an important role in different jobs such as teaching, scientific research and practice. Professor Zhu Yong has been asking students to be "simple and pragmatic", "less utilitarian, more indifferent", taking "dripping water wears away the stone, accumulating knowledge for later use" as the creed of academic research, being modest and prudent, and not arrogant and impetuous. He also asked the students to unite sincerely, help each other, care for each other, be proactive and make progress together.
Professor Zhu Yong's academic field has shifted from studying China's traditional legal system to paying attention to China's modern legal history, and taking China's modernization as a breakthrough. At present, Professor Zhu Yong is undertaking a number of scientific research projects around national scientific research topics such as "Modern Judicial Reform in China". With Professor Zhu Yong as the academic leader, the academic circle of legal history in China has basically formed an academic center for studying the modern legal system in China and the modernization of the legal system in China-China Modern Legal Research Center.
