Haining is a county-level city managed by Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province, located in the south wing of the Yangtze River Delta and the northeast of Zhejiang Province. It is 0/25km east of Shanghai/KLOC-,west of Hangzhou and south of Qiantang River. It is a close layer and an important node of Hangzhou metropolitan area.

Haining is rich in products, prosperous in market and developed in economy. It is one of the first coastal counties and cities in China that are open to the outside world, ranking 19 in the top 100 counties and cities in China, 28th in the manufacturing industry, 18 in the business environment and 9th in the overall well-off county level.

Haining culture

Haining is a culturally advanced county (city) in China, a demonstration area of national public cultural service system and a famous historical and cultural city in Zhejiang Province. Haining Shadow Play and Shi Xia Lantern Festival were listed as the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage, and "Shen Chao Sacrifice" was also selected as the fourth batch of national intangible cultural heritage representative projects.

Haining Shadow Play is listed in the "Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity", and the Grand Canal (Haining Section) is also listed in the World Heritage List. Haining has a public library service system with a collection of 2 167400 volumes, including museums, cultural centers, painting and calligraphy institutes, art research institutes and 163 rural cultural auditoriums.
