During the War of Liberation, he served as Director of the General Staff of the 4th Column 13 Brigade Command of the Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan Military Region, Head of the 38th Regiment of the 4th Column 13 Brigade of Chen Corps, and Head of the 38th Division12 Regiment of the 4th Corps of the Second Field Army.

After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), he served as the head of the Second Field Army of Southwest Military Region, the cadre education group of Yunnan Military Region, the chief of staff, deputy division commander and the fourth artillery division commander of the artillery division, the deputy director of the logistics department of Kunming Military Region, the deputy commander of the artillery of Kunming Military Region, the deputy director of the Planning Committee and the director of the Construction Committee of Yunnan Revolutionary Committee.
