Does anyone know anything about Zhang Changcheng, the master of Banhu?
Zhang Changcheng, a China banhu performer, was born in Shaanxi, 1933. He studied Banhu since childhood and studied under the famous Shaanxi Opera Troupe, so he has a solid foundation. After participating in the revolution, he worked as a solo performer of Banhu in the Northwest Military and Political University Art Troupe, the Avant-garde Song and Dance Troupe and the Second Artillery Art Troupe. He is famous for being good at playing tenor Banhu, with neat bow and brilliant timbre. He is good at integrating the playing techniques of Chinese opera Banhu into the creation and performance of Banhu music. His representative works include: Red Army Brothers Come Back, Northeast Yangko, Duihua, Xiuying, Phnom Penh and so on. He has visited and performed in more than 20 countries including Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe, and won the gold medal at 1956 Asian-African Youth Festival and 1957 Sixth World Youth Students' Peace and Friendship Festival.
