One of the eight revolutionary model operas, Taking the Tiger Mountain Outward, was adapted from Qu Bo's novel Lin Yuan. Because Qu Bo personally participated in the fight against bandits, many descriptions in the book have a high degree of overlap with history, and most of the main characters have prototypes. For example, Shao Jianbo, the chief of staff of the regiment code-named "203", is the prototype of Qu Bo himself, while Yang Zirong, who has become synonymous with heroes in modern China, appeared in his real name.
The creative background of "Taking Tiger Mountain Outward";
In the 1970s, when Tsui Hark was studying in the United States, he watched the Peking Opera version of "Taking the Tiger Mountain Outward" and thought the story of "Taking the Tiger Mountain Outward" was wonderful. When Tsui Hark returned to Hong Kong around 1977, he deliberately found the original novel of Lin Yuan, and after reading a lot of materials, he realized that the characters and stories in the original novel "Taking Tiger Mountain Outward" had real prototypes. However, the copyright adaptation of "Taking Tiger Mountain Outward" has always been a big problem. In 2009, with the help of Yu Dong, president of Bona Film Group, Tsui Hark obtained the right to adapt the original novel, making it possible to start shooting. At the same time, the successful filming of "Taking the Tiger Mountain Out" was supported by Director Xie Jin. Tsui Hark has been preparing for five years to shoot "Taking Tiger Mountain Outward".
