Garrison area is responsible for the city's public security work, including maintaining social order, implementing urban management, coordinating military-civilian relations and other tasks, while military sub-areas are responsible for the military work in this area, including organizing training, directing operations, managing subordinate units and other tasks. Therefore, garrison commands pay more attention to urban management and maintaining social stability, while military sub-zones pay more attention to military command and management of subordinate units.
The jurisdiction of a garrison is usually a city or a larger area, while the jurisdiction of a military sub-area is usually a smaller area or a specific unit. Therefore, the jurisdiction of the garrison is relatively large, and the jurisdiction of the military sub-district is relatively small.
Garrison usually belongs to the military region of the province, and military sub-regions usually belong to the military region of the city. Therefore, the garrison commands are directly subordinate to the provincial military regions, and the military sub-regions are directly subordinate to the municipal military regions.
Historical evolution of garrison area
During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, the People's Liberation Army of China set up Jianlitai Garrison (Jianning, Lichuan and Taining) in Fujian, the central revolutionary base area. During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, 1938 set up garrison headquarters in Suide, Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region, and 1942 set up five garrison areas in the border region. During the War of Liberation, in liberated medium-sized and above cities, the police organs were appointed to set up garrison headquarters.
After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), garrison areas were set up in some important cities and strategic locations. From the mid-1950s to the 1960s, the central municipalities directly under the Central Government set up garrison areas or garrison areas respectively, which were corps-level units, Beijing set up garrison areas, and Tianjin, Shanghai and Chongqing set up garrison areas respectively (the garrison area of Lvda was the only special unit-it belonged to corps-level units).
