Lv Xixing, the abbot of Dongyue Temple in Ming Dynasty, founded the Inner Immortal School of Taoism in China. His Taoist classics, such as Fu Mo in the South, History of Fang Hu and Shu Zhi of Lengyan, were included in Sikuquanshu, and he also wrote Biography of Immortals, which is a combination of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. His Taoist thoughts still have influence in Korea, Singapore, Japan, Sichuan and other places. Dongyue Temple has a solemn layout and magnificent momentum, especially in the main hall. According to folklore, Li Chunfang, the champion of Xinghua, built this hall in the style of Beijing Golden Palace to show his filial piety to his parents, so as to comfort his parents that they could not witness the Forbidden City. In June 2006, Xinghua Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government implemented the religious policy and handed over the right to use Dongyue Temple from the Municipal Cultural Center to the Municipal Taoist Association. According to the restoration plan of Dongyue Temple, the construction of memorial archway, mountain gate, theater, Four Sages Temple, Lv Zutan, God of Wealth Temple, Wuyue Building, Doulao Palace, Fairy Garden, Du Jing Temple and life fire control will be gradually restored. 201April 10, Taoist associations in Taizhou, Jiangsu Province, and Taoist priests from Hongkong, Taiwan Province Province, Singapore and Malaysia came to xinghua city to attend the grand opening ceremony of Dongyue Temple and statue. It attracted more than 10,000 believers to pray, burn incense and worship, as well as tourists from all over the world to visit. In 1986, Dongyue Temple was declared as a cultural relics protection unit by Xinghua County People's Government, and was declared as a provincial cultural relics protection unit in 200 1 year. The current abbot of Dongyue Temple is Taoist Feng Jun.
