Brief introduction of Luzhou bell and drum tower
Luzhou Bell and Drum Tower is located in the north of Luzhou City. It is 20 meters high and has a four-story brick structure. There are five minarets on the roof, with a square bottom and a side length of 6.45 meters. In the 16th year of Jiajing in Ming Dynasty (1537), Xue Jia, a soldier from Luzhou, presided over the construction, which was mainly used for telling time and giving an alarm. During the period of 1927, Xiheng, the local taxation bureau, bought four large self-timer clocks from Siemens, Germany, which were installed on the four sides of the top floor. The hands turned at the same time and automatically told the time, and the sound spread to the outer suburbs. Now there is a small garden around the Bell and Drum Tower, with an area of 2 100 square meter and an investment of more than 9 million yuan, including green space, garden sketches and small fountains.
