Wuhan University has seven colleges and one department, namely Accounting College, Finance and Economics College, Management College, Information Engineering College, Law School, Foreign Languages College, Arts and Media College and General Education Department. At present, there are more than 13000 students in school.
The founder of the school is Mr. Chen Yidan, the main founder of Tencent, the founder and honorary chairman of Tencent Charity Foundation, and the founder of "One Dan Award". Known as "the godfather of Internet public welfare in China" and "the first person of Internet public welfare", it opened a precedent for domestic non-profit public welfare universities in the way of "running schools without asking for returns".
Wuhan University implements the principal responsibility system under the leadership of the school board. The current president of Wuhan University is Professor Li Zhongyun, former Party Secretary of Huazhong Agricultural University. He is a young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions from the Ministry of Agriculture and enjoys special government allowance from the State Council.
Wuhan University vigorously develops the international education of the integration of Chinese and Western cultures, and cooperates with many famous overseas universities such as Cambridge University, Reading University, Newcastle University, Stellenbosch University in South Africa and Lingnan University in Hong Kong, and has established multi-level inter-school exchange mechanisms such as teacher-student exchange, joint training, academic exchange and cooperative scientific research.
