South China Agricultural University, referred to as "Huanong", is located in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. It is a national key university with the advantages of agricultural science and life science and featuring agricultural research in tropical and subtropical regions. Established by Guangdong Provincial People's Government and Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. To build universities for "2 1 1 Project" and high-level universities in Guangdong Province, to be selected as the national "key discipline project", to build high-level universities for national graduate students, to be the first batch of pilot universities for "three rounds of education" reform by the Ministry of Education, to be a national demonstration university for deepening the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, to receive scholarships from the China government for overseas students in China, and to be a pilot university for the reform of the national "outstanding agricultural and forestry talents education and training plan".
The school was founded in 1909, Guangdong agricultural experimental field and agricultural workshop. 1952 South China Agricultural College was formed by the merger of the former Agricultural College of Sun Yat-sen University, the Agricultural College of Lingnan University and the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine and the Department of Pests and Diseases of the former Agricultural College of Guangxi University, and was under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture. 1984, renamed South China Agricultural University. In 2000, the school was placed under the management of Guangdong Province by the Ministry of Agriculture.
