Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology (hereinafter referred to as "Nanxinda") is located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. It is a national key university featuring atmospheric science. It was jointly built by Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, China People's Government, Ministry of Education, China Meteorological Bureau and State Oceanic Administration. It is a national "double-first-class" construction university, a class A construction university of Jiangsu Province's high-level university construction peak plan, and the National University of Planetary Sciences.
2. School history
The school was founded on 1960. It was originally under the Meteorological Bureau of the Central Military Commission. Its predecessor was the Institute of Meteorology of Nanjing University. 1963 was independently set up as a meteorological college, and 1978 was listed as a national key university. In 2004, the school was renamed Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology. Since 2007, Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, China Meteorological Bureau, Ministry of Education and State Oceanic Administration have been established. Now it is a central and local university mainly managed by Jiangsu Province.
