Its predecessor was Leeds Medical College, established in 183 1, and Yorkshire Academy of Sciences was established in 1874. The Translation Research Center under the School of Modern Language and Culture of Leeds University enjoys a worldwide reputation. It is one of the most popular universities for British students.
